Girlfriend Jeans

Please note that my blog has moved. Check out the upgrade at: http://www.sachinbhola.com/blog - Sachin Bhola

Boyfriend blazers: Meet your match. Williamsburg opened up Pandora's box and uleashed the girlfriend jeans on men - and the many terrible things to follow.

Retail giants, like H&M, are promoting the trend to the masses. In its latest style guide, achieving the rocker look involves spicing up "the look by chosing a pair of skinny girlfriend jeans and some sequin. Womenswear pieces can look just as good on a glammed up boy."

"and some sequin?" Yikes.

The trend toward cross-merchandising wardrobes has increased in recent seasons with women borrowing almost everything from their boyfriend's closets -- blazers, jeans, khakis, scarves -- but the idea of men raiding their girlfriend's closets simply won't sell.

Girlfriend Jeans: Consumer Behavior 101

For the primitive straight guy (i.e. the masses), the idea of wearing his girlfriend's jeans is so emasculating that this will likely have a counter effect on men's fashion, prompting relaxed-fit styles to re-emerge.

The metrosexual (are people still using this word?) will stick to his Diesel jeans; however, he won't be compelled to partake in any gay bashing.

The hipster boys need to realize that skinny jeans are one thing; wearing your girldriend's skinny jeans is another. Trust me, that won't turn her on.

Rockers, rock on.

Gay men will love this trend. Thus, the girlfriend jeans for men should really be called the boyfriend jeans for men.

And for those in the market, here are a few affordable options:
BDG High Rise Cigarette Jean ($58)
Levi's Capital E Skimmer Jeans ($79.90)
Cheap Monday Narrow OD Black Jeans ($75)
